OUTSTANDING FISHING
OUTSTANDING LANDSCAPE
Lagg Trout Fishery is a well established stocked fishery set in the dramatic, wild landsacpe of Assynt in the far Northwest Highlands of Scotland.
The Trout are matured on site and with care, attention and a strictly controlled feeding regieme, resulting in only the finest and fittest specimens making it into the two lochs. The minimum stocking size is around 2lb/1kg.
Comparing this fishery to any other would be a mistake. Due to the colder waters, shorter summers and the fish having to really 'work for their dinner', the strength of the Lagg Trout should not be underestimated!
IN THE HEART OF THE LAST WILDERNESS...
Lagg Fishery is situated in the north of the parish of Assynt, on the B869, between the stunning beach and waterfall at Clashnessie Bay and the quaint Highland village of Drumbeg.
CLOSE TO ACCOMMODATIONS OF ALL TYPES...
Throughout the area there is a wide selection of accommodation, with Fearna Cottage providing the most convenient option, being right on the banks of the fishery. This well appointed house has three twin/double rooms, two of which are en-suite - ideal for a party of anglers!
The easiest approach by car is from the south (from Lochinver) but the single track road can still be challenging to navigate for the first time. Simply drive with care, being prepared to stop at each and every passing place, stick to your side of the road and be prepared to reverse if required.
PARKING AT THE WATER'S EDGE...
2 miles/3 km after passing Clashnessie Beach, or 3 miles/5 km after leaving Drumbeg, you will see a metal gate and 'Lagg Fishery' sign.
Go through the gate and follow the track 100m to parking at the hut.
Both of the stocked lochs have boats available and unlimited bank access, although care must be taken due to the 'wild' nature of the surroundings.
The duration of the fishery ticket is for up to four hours fishing on the stocked lochs but some of the surrounding lochs can also be fished on the same day at no additional charge.
Fishing is by fly only and between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00
